Volunteer of the Quarter - Caitlyn Goforth

Congratulations to our USO Guam Volunteer of the Quarter for Summer 2016, Mrs. Caitlyn Goforth!

Caitlyn started volunteering at the USO Guam in November 2015 and quickly became an indispensable member of the team with more than 500 hours of service to date. She assists in opening the USO Center in Tumon Bay and also picks up food donations from sponsors Winchell’s and Infusion Coffee & Tea before her shift. Her administrative expertise has aided in her ability to work closely with Programs Manager Ed Lebita on many recent successful special events including Guam USO’s 7th Annual Golf For Our Heroes and 11th Anniversary Six Star Service Salute.

Most recently, Caitlyn helped to develop a new Volunteer Management Position: Information Services Coordinator, where she and other volunteers organize and maintain all outreach regarding information services throughout the island. With so many requests for support that come into the USO Guam, it was a challenge to staff information booths for many events that happen throughout the year. Caitlyn saw this gap and immediately volunteered to develop a new system with minimal assistance from USO staff.

As the wife of a submariner, she knows first-hand many of the questions and issues encountered by military families on Guam. That knowledge, coupled with her bubbly and welcoming attitude, truly sets Caitlyn apart. She is well versed on USO programs and services and trains other volunteers so that they too can speak about USO offerings to all who are interested.

Caitlyn has enabled the USO to be represented at more outreach events by planning, organizing, and staffing information booths that help more people to understand the USO’s role and mission to support and strengthen America’s service members and their families.

Congratulations, Caitlyn, and thank you for all you do!
