USO Pacific Expeditionary Support: Saipan and Tinian
On October 25th 2018, the worst US storm since 1935 struck the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, home to 52,000 U.S. citizens & nationals. With sustained winds of 180 mph this CAT 5 Typhoon devastated the islands and caused extensive damage to critical infrastructure.
Relief efforts by US Forces began as soon as the storm passed, and USO Pacific was not far behind in organizing and mobilizing USO support to keep service members connected during relief operations. USO Expeditionary Site Saipan is providing, USO Care Packages, Wi-Fi connectivity, video games, board games, coffee, water and snacks to the 500 plus Service Members taking part in the relief efforts on Saipan.
Just a few miles south on the island of Tinian where damage was even more substantial, USO delivered Care Packages to provide small comforts of home to the 100 service members taking part in the relief efforts. Wi-Fi connectivity, a Thanksgiving Day meal and additional supplies were delivered just in time for the Holidays.
